Here’s what you need to know about the Interministerial Meeting organized by the Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure for the promotion and advancement of the TourCMR App.

September 22nd 2021, the Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure organized an inter-ministerial meeting which brought together various Government stakeholders and a team from Nchimsy Teq; the developers of the TourCMR App.
The meeting which took place in the conference hall of the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure (MINTOUL), was aimed at developing strategies for the promotion of tourism in Cameroon, through the TourCMR App.
TotalEnergies AFCON 2021 is a major international football event that offers a wonderful opportunity to promote Cameroon’s beauty and tourist destinations.

To ensure that we make the most of AFCON 2021, MINTOUL is building a collaboration with other Government departments, including;

The Ministry of Culture (MINAC),
Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL),
Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (MINPMESA),
The General Delegation for National Security (GDNS), and
The National Gendarmerie (SED)

These distinguished departments all answered present at the meeting, aiming to add their energies to the efforts of MINTOUL, in contributing to the growth and development of the TourCMR App.
The meeting kicked off with a presentation of the TourCMR App by the team from Nchimsy Teq. Stakeholders did not fail to express their excitement and appreciation for the technology, heavily applauding the uniqueness of the innovation.
Fully aware of the value and stakes involved in the successful accomplishment of the TourCMR project, the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure is strongly invested in its realization, as a Government body.
MINTOUL is committed to implementing strategies for the exploitation of this digital platform, which is going to be an essential instrument in the promotion of both online and outdoor tourism in Cameroon.

Discussions

Discussions revolved around the improvement of quality and content of the TourCMR app, to meet the standards of both local and international users. Here’s what we all know… To fully exploit the benefits of the TourCMR app for the promotion of the image of Cameroon during and after the 2021 AFCON, we have to ensure that the app is of truly outstanding quality and standard. For this, certain key aspects of the application have to be put in place, including; the provision of accurate information on the app, security, and advanced features. All these elements are very important for tourists visiting Cameroon, and were at the centre of discussions at the meeting with MINTOUL. That said, the impact-rich meeting ended with some call-to-action resolutions and assignments for all the different stakeholders in order to get everything ready for the development and official launching of the TourCMR App.

5th Evaluation Meeting with the TourCMR Team and the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure Cameroun.

Tuesday, September 14, 2021, day of an intense workshop session in the conference room of the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure, featuring MINTOUL officials and the TourCMR Team.
Promoting the beauty of Cameroon using the best digital approaches is the ambition of the TourCMR Team; a team of young and ambitious entrepreneurs, led by Pemwoya Bryan Pangsui (CEO).
As TotalEnergies AFCON 2021 approaches, we want to use technology to sell Cameroon’s culture and heritage to the widest possible
Tuesday’s working session was chaired by NDIORO a MAMOM, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure representing the Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure.
The session was aimed at assessing the progress made by the TourCMR Team, based on recommendations from previous work sessions.

Updates from the TourCMR team

The TourCMR team provided an update of the new features added to the app, through a detailed and eloquent presentation. At this point, new features include; the easy geo-localization and accessibility of Hotels, Restaurants, Banks, Guest Houses, Embassies, and tourist sites, on the app.
Starting from October 2021, all Hotels, Restaurants, Guest Houses, Banks, and Tour agencies who want to feature on the TourCMR app will have to pay a subscription fee. Different payment plans will be used to determine what hotels appear on top of the search results.

The higher a company pays for our service, the more visibility they’ll get. Respectfully, we’ve built the official digital tour guide of Cameroon, and are offering a big business opportunity for all recreational service providers in the country.
The app also has slots for official sponsors, whose adverts will be displayed on all sections of the App. Businesses have the possibility to reach more and more Cameroonians through the TourCMR app.
The team from MINTOUL expressed tremendous satisfaction with the work done this far, and Satisfying end users is the ultimate goal.

TourCMR is the first of its kind Travel Guide App in Cameroon which is fully focused on changing the face of Tourism in Cameroon and exposing the Cameroon culture and heritage to a wider audience using the appropriate digital approaches. We are focused on giving Cameroon the spot it deserves in the tourism sector by fully exposing the different sites to countries all around the World and bringing more people to Cameroon. TourCMR is Cameroon’s own social Media for touristic sites which is aimed at exposing the touristic potentials of Cameroon.

It is a well-structured guide to all the touristic sites available in Cameroon making it easy for tourists to find and visit touristic attractions in any part of the Country. This app contains touristic sites classified under all the different towns in Cameroon with accurate descriptions, cost estimates, and directions on how to get to each touristic site. It as well helps tourists find hotels and restaurants near each touristic site. The platform as well has an interactive section that enables people to review their experience on touristic sites they visit.

With the rapid increase in the usage of smartphones around the World, TourCMR brings essential and accurate information to the fingerprints of all travel lovers. It will increase the number of tourists visiting the country as the beautiful attractions from all over the country will be at the fingerprints of users all around the world especially during the African Nations Cup where Cameroon is expected to host more than 8000 foreigners. Our goal is to spread the Cameroon culture all around the world and increase the number of tourist visitors to Cameroon by 40% before the end of 2022.

We are not only focused on receiving tourists but also attracting visitors from all parts of the World as our app is fully available in 172 countries both on Android and IOS. Our travel Guide App provides tourists with a well-structured guide that has touristic sites classified under all the different towns in Cameroon with accurate descriptions, cost estimates, and directions on how to get to each touristic site. This will go a long way to increase the revenue generated from tourism in the country which will later be used to meet up some conditions to better this sector in Cameroon.

2. Promoting Tourism During International Events Such as CAN-2022.

Coupe d’Afrique des Nations, also referred to as AFCON, brings together 24 Nations in Africa together and fortunately, 2022 is Cameroon’s turn to host the Games. With more than 10000 spectators expected for matches, this is a golden opportunity to tell the story of Cameroon Culture and heritage using the TourCMR App. This competition is a great way to attract tourists to the country not just for the competition but to enable them to explore the beauty of a country full of the richest cultures that could be found in Africa. With more than 99% of tourists having a smartphone, TourCMR will bring the Cameroon Culture and Heritage to their smartphones.

This app has a push notification feature that enables us to send out important information to all tourists with just as easy as two (02) clicks. Effective sensitization in especially during the Covid19 Pandemic is very important, TourCMR guarantees the empirical transfer of essential information to everyone who has the app installed. During the upcoming CAN 2022, this will enable direct communication with both locals and visitors so as to easily pass out relevant and vital information to everyone. For example, this application was used to constantly pass COVID-19 awareness messages to more than 1000+ active users during CHAN 2021 and ensured effective communication sensitization messages to both Cameroon citizens and visitors who came in and had the app on their mobile phones.

4. Promote Cameroon Culture and Heritage.

From the North to the South across the West through East, Cameroon is one nation with more than 100 ethnic groups sharing at least 250 different languages, traditional meals, traditional outfits, and moral behaviors. This mobile app will contain descriptions about all the touristic sites in Cameroon which will promote the Cameroonian culture and heritage to users all across the world. The app also has a blog section which makes it easier to share insights, news, and any related data about the beauty of Cameroon culture and Heritage.

5. Help Tourist Plan Ahead of Time.
